Our Free Range Chickens and Guinea Fowl and Eggs
FREE RANGE CHICKENS - CHICKEN LIKE IT USED TO TASTE!
Many years ago chickens were very slow growing, killed at maturity, plucked by hand and then hung in a cool larder to produce a succulent bird full of natural flavour.
Burtree House Farm have gone back to these principles. Our FREE RANGE GOURMET CHICKEN is a special slow growing breed originating from Sasso in France. We rear them completely free range, for between 12-18 weeks. (In comparison, most normal chickens are grown for just 42 days and fed to stimulate rapid growth).
Our chickens are fed an natural high cereal vegetable feed, and eat a tremendous amount of grass. The natural feed has no antibiotics, no artificial additives or colourings. The chickens are dry plucked, and hung between 5-10 days, further increasing their flavour.
The chickens are available in weights ranging from 1.6 kgs to 3 kgs. However, the majority of our Chickens are normally around the 2kgs weight. The Burtree House Free Range Chicken will take much less time to cook (around 90 minutes only, full instructions provided).
We can also provide Crowns and Chicken Breast Roasts, as well as Chicken sausages - Chicken with Coriander and Lime plus Chicken with Sage.
Go on, spoil yourself, go back to your childhood and relive those special meals once again. BOOK YOURS NOW - orders can be taken at any time, collection can be at the Farm Shop – open 7 days a week, or at one of the Farmers Markets which we attend.
FREE RANGE EGGS
Our Eggs are Fully Free Range, the chickens living in small flocks outside in the fields, giving superior taste and natural colour! Our eggs are all guaranteed fresh, and it’s not unusual for them to be warm from the nest!
GUINEA FOWL
Normally between 1.3 and 1.8 kilos - averaging around 1.5 kilos.
